While I've been working up at Fort Lewis, Jeanie was down in Vancouver, working on her business and getting our new apartment set up. She's also been working on ways to make our lives healthier, more budget-friendly and just generally better. One of the ways she's done this was that she looked up a bunch of cheap, healthy recipes that we could make together. This morning, we tried one of the breakfast ones. It was a gourmet scrambled egg dish with a few maple-flavored sausage links and it was absolutely delicious. We took some pictures throughout the whole process so you could see it too! Recipe available upon request.
In other news, my brother, Ryan has been particularly awesome lately! I expressed to him that I needed a new computer and told him what I would be using it for. I was asking how much it would cost and where I should make my purchases at. As it turns out, he was looking to get rid of some computer parts that he just had laying around the house (occupational hazard?) and ended up building me a new computer from scratch! I want to thank my brother for being so awesome and helpful, as well as thank the rest of my family for being so supportive of me during my process of getting out of the Army. You all are making it so much easier on me.
Below is a picture of the computer that Ryan built, all set up for me to use!
On the topic of getting out of the Army, here's an update for everyone. This upcoming work week (March 4 - 8) will be the last week of formally going to work. After that, the Army is giving me ten business days to "clear." That means that I'll be turning all my gear back in to the Central Issue Facility, finalizing my medical records, and doing all the little administrative tasks associated with closing this chapter of my life. Then, on March 24th, I'll begin what is called "terminal leave" which is where I take all the leave days I have saved up and spend them all at once, which runs right into my ETS date (the day I officially get out of the Army). So I have one week left of work, then I clear for two weeks, then I'm on vacation for the rest of my time in the Army. After almost seven years, we're so close to the end!
